My photographic journey as a black and white landscape photographer began in childhood with a home darkroom kit, my father’s incident light meter and a Kodak folding bellows field camera. Inspired by the images and writings of Ansel Adams I began a lifelong quest to create monochrome landscape photographic art. A high-quality print required a large negative which led me to use the savings during my college years to purchase my dream camera, a Pentax 6x7. I took that camera everywhere and after several repairs (including a tragic drop on the road in Yosemite Valley) I continue to use it to this day. When my daughters were very young, I recognized the need to embrace digital photography. A first-generation digital camera started my journey, and I am presently using Canon DSLR equipment. I sincerely hope that you enjoy the images of Torrey Pines, the San Diego coast, and the National Parks of the West that I have produced over the years, presented both online and at local art festivals. Professionally, I am a clinical cardiovascular researcher and a practicing invasive cardiologist. Not surprisingly, my medical career has focused on imaging the cardiovascular system.
